11 p.m. Saturday UPDATE: Scottsboro Police found shooting suspect Daniel McCarn using a drone, one with FLIR technology that picked up his body heat.
Scottsboro Police Lt. Coty Durham said a business owner in the 2000 block of Old Larkinsville Road called police at 9:56 p.m. to let them know he saw someone on his business' security camera that resembled the suspect.
Officers left their command post at Calvary Baptist Church and headed to that location, just under five miles away. Durham then operated the drone over what officers believed was McCarn near some railroad tracks.
And when they saw some movement, a team of 6-8 officers found McCarn and took him into custody without incident.
"I didn't hear Mr. McCarn say a word," said Durham. "I didn't see him look outside of his straight gaze. So, as they were walking him out to me, when I was putting up the stuff, he just gazed straight. He didn't look at me. I didn't hear him say a word, just kind of blank."
McCarn was booked into the Jackson County Detention Center on felony charges.
Scottsboro Police haven't released the name of the officer who was shot, only saying that he is a veteran of the force and has served many years. At last check, he was still at Huntsville Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
"He's doing OK," said Lt. Durham. "He is doing OK. He had to undergo a procedure earlier. But still, the injuries that he sustained during the officer-involved shooting were not life-threatening. So, he is hopeful to make a recovery. And we hope to be seeing him again soon."

From earlier:
A Scottsboro Police Officer is in stable condition after being shot, and the suspect is still on the loose.
Multiple agencies are searching for the suspected shooter, 29-year-old Daniel McCarn of Huntsville, in the woods around Taco Bell on U.S. Hwy 72 in Scottsboro. He is a white male, 5’10’’, weighing 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, black shorts and no shoes at the intersection of US Highway 72 and County Park Road in Scottsboro. McCarn also walks with a limp.
Early Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a Blue Alert for McCarn. A Blue Alert is issued when a Peace Officer is missing, injured, or killed and an at-large suspect is believed to be a serious threat to the public.
According to Scottsboro Police, just before 1 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a domestic incident on Ruth St. They say McCarn then fled the scene in a vehicle before crashing at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 72 and County Park Road.
Once he got out of the car, investigators say he began firing shots and struck an officer on the scene. That officer is in stable condition and being treated at Huntsville Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect then took off running, and since then, multiple agencies have been searching for him with manpower and drones.
U.S. Hwy. 72 was closed in both eastbound and westbound lanes as of 8:30 a.m. and will remain closed until further notice.
McCarn is considered armed and dangerous, and SPD is asking the community to be on high alert and be aware of their surroundings.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are on scene to assist in the search for McCarn, including Special Agents assigned to ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), Troopers assigned to ALEA’s Highway Patrol and federal partners to include the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
If you have any information concerning McCarn’s whereabouts, do not approach him but call 911 immediately.
